We provide end-to-end production services and seamless access to Italy’s premier tax and funding incentives in partnership with Fargo Film.
Fargo Film is a renowned Turin-based production company founded in 1977, with a long-standing reputation for excellence in advertising, film, and television production, in which we are shareholders. Over the years, it has evolved into a comprehensive service hub for international co-productions, offering executive production, budgeting, and tax credit management across Italy.
The partnership is non-exclusive, producers are free to collaborate with any Italian production company while still enjoying the unique locations, backlot, and facilities of Borgo Studios.
Incentives & Soft Money Financing for international producers
Thanks to one of the most competitive tax incentive systems in Europe, combined with regional film funds and VAT exemptions, Italy has become one of the most convenient and rewarding filming destinations in the world.
The Piemonte Film TV Fund stands out as one of the most dynamic and accessible regional incentives in the country, granting up to €400,000 per project to productions shooting in Piedmont.
The fund supports both fiction and documentary projects, with a strong focus on international co-productions and sustainable filming practices.
At Borgo Studios, we help international producers unlock these advantages and turn Italy into their most efficient and inspiring production base.
The Italian Tax Credit for Foreign Productions
The Italian Tax Credit for Foreign Productions offers a remarkable opportunity for films and TV series shooting in Italy under a Production Service Agreement (PSA).
Working with a qualified Italian executive producer such as Borgo Studios allows you to access the maximum benefit available.
Main Benefits
40% tax rebate on all eligible costs incurred in Italy
No cap per project (up to €20 million credit per service company per year)
Minimum local expenditure: €250,000
Fast-track approval: confirmation usually within 30 days
Retroactive coverage from the date of PSA signature
No need for the foreign producer to have taxable income in Italy
The credit is applied directly by the Italian executive producer — offsetting their own tax liabilities (VAT, corporate tax, regional tax, and social contributions) — making the system fast, safe, and self-financing.
In addition, the incentive can be combined with regional funds and other European programs, allowing even high-budget productions to shoot entirely in Italy.
Cultural Eligibility Test
To qualify for the tax credit, projects must:
Score at least 50/100 on the Italian Cultural Test
Include a minimum of 15% of scenes set or shot in Italy or within the EU
Employ local or European key crew members
Carry out post-production work in Italy (sound, music, VFX, editing, etc.)
The Ministry of Culture ensures a streamlined process, with approvals typically issued within 30 days from submission.
